Medical device firm Boston Scientific says cyberattack has disrupted shipment processes

A cyberattack has disrupted the business operations of medical device giant Boston Scientific.
The company released a statement and filed documents with the Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) saying a cybersecurity incident was discovered on Tuesday.
“The incident has impacted access to certain operating systems and business applications, including the ability to process and ship customer orders,” the company explained.
A spokesperson declined to say if the incident involved ransomware but told Recorded Future News that a timeline for full restoration is still unknown.
The attack caused a network outage and disrupted the company’s global operations, requiring it to hire a cybersecurity firm to deal with the damage.
Boston Scientific said it is still unclear how the cyberattack will impact the company financially.
The company, which produces a range of medical devices like pacemakers and stents, reported $5.4 billion in net sales during the second quarter of 2026.
No hacking group has taken credit for the attack as of Wednesday. Investors told CNBC that they were told it may take weeks for the company to restore its systems.
Last month, the world’s largest medical device company, Medtronic, notified more than 3.8 million people that their data may have been exposed in an attack reportedly linked to a prominent cybercrime group.
Medical device company Stryker was also hit by a cyberattack earlier this year that was eventually claimed by a group connected to the Iranian government. The Michigan-based company took weeks to recover from the attack and the incident had downstream effects on hospitals and medical facilities in the U.S., according to the FBI.
